FISHING TRIPS – FINLAND, AHVENANMAA

Fishmaster organizes guided fishing trips to Finland, Ahvenanmaa. We fish for seatrout from the beach by casting with either fly fishing or spin fishing equipment. FLY FISHING, SPIN FISHING

Ahvenanmaa is famous for its wide, shallow sand and pebble beaches, which are best suited for fishing from the shore. The beaches are particularly suitable for wading, so bring waders and also take your own fishing equipment with you on the trip. The most popular fishing methods are fly fishing or spin fishing and the most common catch is sea trout.

We move by car and on the beach, walking and wading, fishing during the day in several different places, depending on the conditions. Seatrout fishing is often excellent and wading is easy, the average weight of seatrout in Ahvenanmaa is 1.5-2 kg, but each year someone will catch a seatrout weighing up to 8-9 kg.

FISHING EQUIPMENT

For seatrout fly fishing in Ahvenanmaa, we recommend one handed 9-10 foot fly rods in classes 7-8, high-quality reels with disc brakes. For fly lines, we recommend floating, floating/intermediate or slow intermediate shooting heads. Spin fishing is best done with a high-quality spinning or open reel and a good carbon fiber 8-10 foot rod.

FLIES, LURES

Good fly models in Ahvenanmaa are for example Mulkkis, Haili, Magnus, Kuparipukki, Pattegrisen. Effective lures for spin fishing are narrow spoon lures such as Vekkuli, Krocodile, JW Tyrsky, Vicke; colors blue-silver, red-black, red, fluorescent yellow, lure weights 20-30 g.

ACCOMMODATION

The accommodation is in a well-equipped cabin near the sea and good fishing spots. The cottage has all amenities, a large living room, a well-equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms, toilet and shower.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

Guided trip, these trips always have an experienced Fishmaster fishing guide Jouni Rauha with them. There is a good car ferry connection from Finland mainland to Ahvenanmaa. Anglers can arrive with their own car or alternatively with a flight to Maarianhamina airport. It is a short 20-30 minute drive from Maarianhamina to the cottage.
