Norway, Suldalslågen

Fly fishing for Atlantic Salmon on Suldalslågen River in Western Norway. Fishmaster will arrange fly fishing trips to the Stråpa beat. Suldalslågen is the largest and one of the best salmon rivers in Southwestern Norway. Suldalslågen is famous for very big salmon, the biggest ones are over 20 kilos.

The Suldalslågen is a famous salmon river that is located in the municipality of Suldal in Rogaland county. The 22 km long river runs from the lake Suldalsvatnet to the southwest to the village of Sand where it empties into the Sandsfjorden. The average size of salmon is very high 6-7 kg. Suldalslågen is very late river considering salmon run timing. The fishing season in middle and upper river starts on 20. July and ends on 30. September. Prime time for salmon fishing on this beautiful river is in August-September.

We will fly fish the beautiful, private Stråpa beat situated in the upper part of Suldalslågen River, about 21 km from the sea. Stråpa beat is uppermost beat of the Suldalslågen. It consists of 1,3 km of South (Left) bank and 0,7 km of North (Right) bank of famous River Suldalslågen. Stråpa beat consists three good salmon pools: Strengjen, Flotto and Notahölen. Our Fishmaster group of 4 persons will fly fish exclusively Stråpa beat. Fishing begins on Wednesday at 18:00 and ends next Tuesday at 18:00. Check in for accomodation is at 15:00 on Wednesday and check out is 10:00 on next Wednesday morning.

Bag limit is two salmon per person per day. Only one wild salmon per person per day. If someone kills two salmon in a day, he must stop fishing until midnight. Released salmon is not counted on quotas. All wild female salmon over 75 cm must be released. All seatrout must be released.
