Unfortunately the Gaula River will be closed for the 2027 season, and potentially for several years thereafter.
The reasoning is based on the serious disease outbreaks of UDN and Saprolegniosis, that occurred in the Gaula River this autumn, as well as alarming results from this autumn’s river surveys (juvenile counts and spawning fish counts).
Hopefully, in the future, I will be able to offer you an alternative destination for salmon or sea trout fly fishing to replace Gaula Flyfishing Lodge and the Gaula River. Currently, Stjördal Austkil Lodge in Norway is available. Soon we will publish two new salmon fly fishing destinations in Norway Namsen River. We are also in the process of exploring additional salmon fly fishing destinations in Norway.
Fishmaster offers excellent salmon fly fishing in Iceland across several rivers, including the Stóra Laxá, West Rangá, Svartá and Tungufljót. We are also investigating or preparing to add further salmon and sea trout fly fishing destinations in Iceland. In Scotland, Fishmaster offers traditional salmon fly fishing on the rivers Spey and North Esk.
In Sweden, we fly fish for seatrout on the Ljungan and Mörrum rivers during the spring and autumn. In February and March, we fly fish for seatrout in Argentina on the Rio Grande or Rio Gallegos rivers.
