CAMP STEINFJORD

Camp Steinfjord is located on the dramatic northeastern side of the island Senja in the village of Steinfjord. We can offer comfortable accommodations, premium boats, a sea-side restaurant, generous fascilities and full service for the perfect fishing experience of northern Norway.

Generous facilities provides good logistics, services and space to handle and store both the fish you plan to keep and all your gear. Building number two on the site includes a big changing room, storage and a large slaying room with individual work benches and freezers for each room.

BOATS

Most of the boats are Kvaernö 615 with 115hp Mercury Sea Pro. The boats are equipped with Lowrance fishfinder and chartplotter combo. There is also a VHF radio for each boat. Kvaernö Boats carry a long history of building quality boats made for you to be safe on the water. Kvaernö 615 boat is the perfect fishing platform that offer good space for four anglers with fishing gear. In addition to Kvaerno 615 boats there are also larger Alumarin 760 and 830 boats available (830 only with guide). We can also offer you fishing tackle and safety equipment to rent.

FISHING

The fantastic fishing waters in the area is the reason of the location of the Camp Steinfjord. Within a 15 minute drive by boat you reach fishing waters with a chance to catch record breaking halibut and cod all year around. Fishing season at Camp Steinfjord is from 1st of March until 1st of November.

We do alot of fishing for halibut in shallow waters, 2-15 meters depths in April, May, September and October. We do mostly spin fishing with sandeel baits. But these places would be super places to do fly fishing for halibut. Minimum size for retain a halibut is 84 cm and maximum size is 130 cm.

FISHING TACKLE

Spin fishing rods should be 7- 9 feet long, for 40-100g lures, medium-heavy action with plenty of power for hook setting/pressuring big fish. Bring at least two rods and reels, just in case of break. Reels should have a good quality brakes, for example Shimano 10000 series.

For fly fishing we recommend 9 ‘ foot single handed fly rods for lines #10-12 and suitable fly reels with good quality brakes. Fast sinking shooting heads 450 – 750 grain are needed. Good fly patterns are big heavy flies 10-15 cm with strong single hooks.

ACCOMODATION

Camp Steinfjord have a total of 40 beds located in 7 rooms, 1 apartment and the Villa. All seven rooms are located on the second floor of the main building. All the rooms have 4 comfortable beds (bunk beds) and a sofa that can be converted into an extra bed. The rooms are equipped with soundproof doors to the corridor, blackout curtains, sofa table, drawer and a fridge for private food. Guests staying in the rooms share two toilets with showers in the corridor. There is also a separate toilet in connection to the kitchen and dining area. The shared kitchen have three separate cooking areas with stove, oven and sink. The kitchen is also equipped with a fridge, microwave oven and a coffee percolator (filtered).

Four bed apartment offers easily accessible accommodations with it’s own exterior entrance next to the main entrance of the camp. The apartment has a toilet with shower, two bunk beds and a sofa that can be converted into an extra bed. This makes it ideal for the small family or a group of 4-5 persons. The apartment is furnished with a sofa table, a drawer, a fridge with a small freezer compartent, microwave oven and small kitchen area with two boiling plates.

Villa. The piqturesque duplex villa is the perfect choice for the smaller party that seeks a little more privacy. There are 8 beds divided between four bedrooms. Two toilets, one on each floor, and the one on the bottom floor is equipped with a shower. On the second floor is the kitchen and living room area, a bedroom and the terrace with lovely views to enjoy while drinking your morning coffee.

RESTAURANT

Newly refurbished restaurant by the seaside offer 65 seats and stunning views over Steinfjorden. The restaurant is open to the public seven days of the week for lunch and dinner. Our chefs use fresh and local produce and our menu changes on a regular basis. What better way to finish off a great day of fishing than with a drink and great food in the company of friends.

At least once a month there is pub nights with entertainment at Camp Steinfjord. These events offer the opportunity to meet the local people or other tourists and enjoy food, drinks and music. Restaurant is open during the summer season. We also offer servings during off-season for group bookings.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

Fishing trips to Camp Steinfjord will be arranged throughout the fishing season and the packages can be booked according to the client’s preferred dates. Anglers will take a flight or car transport to Camp Steinfjord in Norway. Booking of weekly packages can be done only from Sunday to Sunday, and half week only from Sunday to Thursday or Thursday to Sunday.

Camp Steinfjord is located on the island of Senja far up north in the land of whales, midnight sun and northern lights. There are several ways to get there. By car. Senja is attached to the mainland by bridge from Finnsnes, the drive from Finnsnes to Steinfjord is about 1 hour. The roads are open all year round and the drive takes you through scenic landscapes.

By plane. Flight time from Oslo to Bardufoss, Harstad Evenes or Tromsø is just under 2 hours. The nearest airport in Bardufoss, which is about a 1,5 hours drive from Steinfjord. From Bardufoss airport you can take the airport shuttle to Finnsnes, where Senja is connected to the mainland by bridge.
