MALDIVES, GT FLY FISHING
Fishmaster will arrange hosted saltwater fly fishing trips to the Maldives. In addition to Giant Trevally we can catch with fly rod for example Bluefin Trevally, Island Trevally, Snapper and Grouper. Jouni Rauha will travel with as a host and a fly fishing guide.
MALDIVES
The Maldives is an island nation consisting of a group of atolls in the Indian Ocean, located south of India and about seven hundred kilometers south-west of Sri Lanka. The Maldives’ twenty-six atolls featuring 1,192 islets, roughly two hundred of which are inhabited. The capital is Male with approx 142000 inhabitants.
FLY FISHING
The main target fish for this fly fishing trip is GT – Giant Trevally. In addition we can catch with fly rod Bluefin Trevally, Island Trevally, Snapper, Grouper and some other fish. We will rent for the group one 5 meter long dinghy boat with 25 hp outboard motor. We use this dinghy boat when transferring anglers between mothership and sandbanks. We will fly fish by wading and fly fishing from coral reefs, sandbanks and flats.
FLY RODS, REELS, LINES
We recommend 9 feet long 10-12 weight fly rods for giant trevally. Each angler should have at least 2 fly rods for GT fly fishing. For fly fishing for bluefin trevally you can use also 9 feet 9 weight fly rods. We recommend 4-piece travel fly rods to suit into your travel bag. High-performance reels with a good brake system are required, capable of holding 200-250 yards of 50-pound backing. We recommend weight forward tropical floating fly lines for fly fishing for Giant Trevally. For example Rio Tropical GT. Each angler should have at least 3 floating fly lines class 10-12 with. As a fly leader we recommend rod length 0,80-0,90 mm/60-80-pound test level fluorocarbon leader.
FLIES
Good flies for Giant Trevally are for example Deceivers with extra strong hooks 2/0-5/0 in colours olive/pearly white, pearly white, blue/silver, black/silver, black/purple.
MOTHERSHIP
At all times you can be assured of your safety and comfort whilst aboard our mothership. Hope Cruiser is 26 meters long and fully equipped and comfortable with large deck area and six guest cabins with air-conditioning. Accomodation for our group will be in a well equipped Hope Cruiser mothership, single person cabins with air-conditioning, en-suite toilet and shower. All meals, tea and coffee are included in price. Other drinks will be paid separately after the trip.

Anglers will take an international flight to Male, Maldives and continue with mothership from Male to destination.
