Return to Scotland fly fishing for spring salmon after Covid pandemic. Traditional Fishmaster spring fly fishing trip to the North Esk Stracathro beat on 13.-20. March 2022. Our group stayed in charming Capo Farmhouse within a short walking distance from the Stracathro beat.
This time we were very lucky with perfect conditions on the North Esk for our fly fishing week. Big spate of 5-6 feet during the weekend had dropped to 2 feet by Monday morning. Water level was slowly dropping whole week to 10 inches by the end of week. Due to excellent conditions on the North Esk our group caught and released total of 12 salmon in length 66-89 cm with estimated weights about 3-7 kg. The flies that worked best were Black Sheep, Black & Yellow tube flies and Cascade.
